File a Complaint. Essex Complaints Summary. Sort By. Complaint Type: Delivery Issues. Status: Answered. I accepted their offer essex build my retirement home. We were to determine house placement, finalize the formal contract, and write a check for earnest money.

He also said. Less than 48 hours prior to beginning, Patrick advised he would not honor our his word. Patrick also said later that Essex does not build custom homes this is not a custom home it is one of their home plans offered in the same community just down the street! The only changes or customization would essex the ones offered to anyone building the home by going to the design center.

Patrick insinuated that Essex was to cease building homes in Mount Vintage. He said that they had to sell their spec homes already in place before moving forward. I spoke with the construction superintendent, Eddie, on Saturday July 20 and he knew nothing of stopping construction.

He stated he had about 80 more homes to build and he planned to be very busy in the next few years. He even thought Essex was to purchase more lots in the neighborhood.

He said he would not build our home or honor the verbal agreement that we had with Patrick Bukszar. We believed we had an honest commitment from Essex Homes 2. Essex already has a commitment in place reviews purchasing the spec homes. The Essex literature and videos all profess truth, reputation, quality and integrity to name a few of the qualities they homes to exhibit. I have only seen dishonesty and a "catch and release" program.

This was to be our retirement home - the last one to build and move in to. We had already reviews preparations for moving, and decorating. It is baffling why a company would risk their stellar reputation and decline a sale for an unknown reasons.

To begin construction as soon as possible within weeks. We had planned to move in to our new home the first of March, or earlier. Essex Homes Southeast, Inc Response.

Please note that it is outside the normal Essex Homes building process to build on an individually owned lot. These conversations sesex to determine if Essex Homes would make an exception to this policy. Throughout this discovery process, the complainant requested a floor plan no longer offered, reviews well as several custom options and personalized requirements that Essex does not typically do, such as a four car garage and jomes particular septic system.

To this date, Essex and the complainant have not finalized any site conditions, plan options, or custom option pricing. We also do not have a house layout on the lot or quotes from any site contractors.

After much deliberation, it became evident that Essex Homes would not be able to accommodate their needs within the price range desired. Therefore, Essex Homes did not enter into a contractual agreement with the complainant. Customer Response. Essex Homes certainly has a talent for redirecting the truth!

In March I inquired if Essex homes built on private lots and was advised that they do not. Ok, fine, I began negotiations with custom builders in the area 2. In mid May Essex called ME! He even suggested the Katherine model with which we agreed. To clarify what we could and could not revjews on the Katherine we shared several emails regarding the options. Patrick advised if each item was a yes or homes noLine by line.

The next email, Patrick quoted a price with all current, applicable items and advised the essex items such as cabinetry and flooring would be determined by a visit to the design center.

I fully understood that a 4th garage bay was not availablethat was one of the line items. To blatantly sssex and say that I contacted Essex in May to build off-site is wrong! To insinuate I was demanding and unreasonable is again a false claim. I have the emails and a witness to prove the circumstances as originally presented. Why can't Essex Homes admit they made a gross error in judgement and apologize for the complete lack of regard and also that they made a huge mistake in offering to build reviews home?

That perhaps they were searching for. It was at homes expense of time, effort and money that Essex Homes has committed this egregious action. I definitely do expect something more from them than a completely false presentation of "their side". I am deeply offended and feel my own integrity has been sullied. I expect nothing less than the truth and demonstration of decency from Essex Homes.

I was introduced to Essex homes and when asked about the type of home I would rviews I emphasize on reviewws basement home. I was told by the sales man that Essex homes essex have basement homes. I was shown a model home of the Springfield. The salesman Paul promised lots of incentives to get the home built.

I signed my first contract with Essex homes a year ago. I called Paul to notify hpmes that we didn't want the spec home and would like a refund of the deposit paul stated VIA EMAIL "sorry but we cannot issue you a refund please re-read the new contract you signed" I went over the homse contracts and noticed a small change in verbiage.

The 2nd contract revkews identical to the original contract. In June over 30 days since I first signed my contract I was told Essex conveniently have Basement homes and lots. I explained to Mary rsviews the past reviews I had with Essex. I refused to sign the revised plan because I didn't want a pond so close to the property being I have 3 small children.

Mary then referred me to Cameron who had a few basement lots available. I chose lot and signed my contract in July After numerous trips to the design center I asked Cameron out of frustration to just copy and paste the specs from the basement home I seen previously with Mary.

I was told theres no way That can be done and had to make an addition trip back to South Carolina. Although all of my contracts with Cameron were signed in a timely manner I got hit with the increase in prices that homes in August I tried to contact Cameron and Ashely for over a week to take care of the issue and didn't get a response.

I've sent Cameron several text and emails at times with NO response At this time essex is ignoring all emails and refuse to sign a release. Essex Homes regrets we were unable to accommodate all of purchaser's request. We have strived to deliver the purchaser a quality home and were a few weeks prior to closing when asked to release the purchaser from his contract.

The release has been delivered essex the purchaser's agent via docusign. Status: Resolved. I have on three occasions requested corrective action with water pooling on my side yard from either sprinklers or rain. When we get rain or when the side yard sprinklers, mine or the neighbors are on we get pooling in the side yard which is excessive.

We have complained multiple time via text and email. Text to Adam Reviews on Aug 3rd, I keep getting the standard reply that it is not an issue if the water is gone in 48 hours, in the last email i received, I was reminded of the warranty documents I signed that state the following.

The yard was not graded properly as to channel the water anywhere. It homes until either absorbed hhomes the ground or evaporates. Water will not run from the side yard to the front like all the other homes built around me. Essex want reviews builder to correct reveiws grading issue so the water abates to the street as reviewss should. Essex Homes received an email homes this homeowner on Monday, December 3, at AM, with the complaint of standing water on the left side of the property in the drainage swale following the area weekend rains.

Essex Homes was on site that Monday morning at AM to evaluate and found no standing water in the swale.
